What Are Nutmeg Oil and Mace Oil?
Nutmeg Oil is distilled from the seeds, offering a bold, warm, and spicy profile.Mace Oil, on the other hand, is extracted from the bright red aril (the lacy covering around the nutmeg seed) and delivers a lighter, more floral-spicy scent.
Despite their shared origin, these oils have distinct personalities—both enriched with aromatic compounds like myristicin, sabinene, and eugenol, making them exceptional for both flavor and fragrance applications.
Where Are They Used?
Flavoring Agent – Found in baked goods, dairy, confectionery, and savory foods. Nutmeg Oil adds richness and depth, while Mace Oil lends a gentle, refined twist.
Fragrance & Perfumery – Nutmeg’s warm notes shine in oriental blends, while Mace is prized in luxury perfumery for its elegant, spicy-floral nuance.
Wellness & Aromatherapy – Both oils are traditionally used in massage and therapeutic blends for their soothing and comforting effects.
