We are thrilled to announce the release of our latest YouTube video, taking you behind the scenes of PT Mitra Ayu’s plantations — where nature, tradition, and innovation meet in perfect harmony.

Welcome to the heart of PT Mitra Ayu’s agricultural journey, where we cultivate a diverse range of aromatic plants across two breathtaking locations: Solok on the mainland of West Sumatra and the pristine Mentawai Islands.

Our plantations, covering over 500 acres, showcase the rich biodiversity of Indonesia while embodying our deep commitment to sustainable agriculture. Every tree planted, every plant nurtured, and every harvest gathered is a step toward preserving the environment and empowering local communities.

A Journey Rooted in Passion

Our story began over a decade ago in Solok, where PT Mitra Ayu’s first plantation took root. What started as a vision to cultivate aromatic plants with care and excellence has blossomed into a vibrant landscape teeming with life.

Here, we have successfully cultivated a wide variety of aromatic crops, including:

  • Massoia (Cryptocarya massoia) — prized for its creamy, coconut-like aroma.

  • Various Eucalyptus species — versatile trees valued for their fresh, medicinal scent.

  • Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) — known for its deep, earthy aroma and soil-conserving properties.

  • Citronella (Cymbopogon winterianus) — celebrated for its fresh, citrusy fragrance and natural insect-repelling qualities.

  • And many more

Each plant is cultivated with meticulous care, combining traditional farming knowledge with modern agricultural practices to ensure the highest quality harvests.

Expanding Horizons: The Mentawai Plantation

In late 2024, we embarked on an exciting new chapter with the expansion of our plantations to the Mentawai Islands — a region renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.

On these remote islands, we are nurturing the next generation of aromatic plants:

  • Massoia — continuing our legacy of cultivating this rare and precious resource.

  • Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) — a spice that has shaped Indonesia’s history and remains highly prized worldwide.

  • Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) — essential for the fragrance industry with its deep, musky scent.

  • Eucalyptus — bringing fresh vitality to the island's forests and communities.

By working closely with the local Mentawai communities, we aim not only to cultivate high-value crops but also to create meaningful opportunities that honor and uplift traditional ways of life. Together, we are building a model of agriculture that balances economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, and cultural respect.

Cultivating a Sustainable Future

Our plantations are designed to support long-term environmental health, including:

  • Agroforestry practices that integrate tree planting with crop farming

  • Soil conservation techniques to protect and enrich the land

  • Water management systems to ensure efficient and responsible usage

  • Empowerment programs that provide training and support to local farmers and communities

We believe that true success lies in creating systems that benefit people, the planet, and future generations. Our plantations stand as living proof that it is possible to produce world-class aromatic ingredients while caring for the environment and empowering local communities.
